We’ve put a list together of our top 5 tarantulas for beginners. Tarantulas make for a fascinating alternative to reptiles and other exotic pets and are becoming more and more popular as lives become busier.
Why get a tarantula?
Tarantulas don’t need complex and expensive set ups, this mean they’re relatively cheap to start with and take up very little room – which is an advantage if you’re short on space.
Unlike other smaller animals tarantulas can also provide a long lasting interest with some living up to 20 years. They make no noise and our beginner suggestions are docile.
Tarantulas don’t have complex feeding requirements and all our beginner example below feed on captive bred insects which are widely available and we stock. The beginner tarantulas are easy to care for and are suitable for under 18’s as long as parents supervise during feeding and maintenance.
Our recommended beginner tarantulas:
Chilean rose (Grammostola Rosea)
Mexican red knee (Brachypelma Smithi)
Pink toe tarantulas (Avicularia Avicularia)
Salmon pink bird eating tarantula (Lasiodora Parahybana)
Indian ornamental tarantulas (Poecilotheria Regalis)
