Mexican red knee tarantulas (Brachypelma Smithi) are a favourite amongst beginner and experiences spider keepers because of their ease of keeping.
In captivity mexican red knee tarantulas eat captive bred insects, but in the wild they’ll also eat small mammals and small lizards. They need to be fed every 4 – 7 days and originate in Mountain ranges in Mexico.
Male mexican red knee tarantulas live approximately 5 years with females living up to 30 years. Mexican red knee tarantulas can grow to approximately 6 inches.
In 1985 Mexican red knee tarantulas were listed as endangered by CITES.
