African bullfrogs (latin name Pyxicephalus Adspersus) are great for beginner exotic pet keepers and can live upto 35 years in captivity under the right conditions. Males grow to about 9 inches long and can weigh up to 2kgs (with females being much smaller).
African bull frogs (as the name suggests) come from various parts of the African continent and including the following countries: Angola,Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
As you can see, feeding is quite an interesting affair and in captivity they’re happy eating shop bought insects (lots of them). In the wild they’ll eat small mammals, small birds and insects.
Did you know?: In a single sex environment a male African bullfrog can switch sexes!
